Today I visited fewer panels than I did yesterday, but I visited one of the most interesting panels today, the game systems panel. This is actually the panel that provided me some information on what has become, I think, my favorite concept coming with the new expansion: Guild Leveling. I love it! I think that it is going to help guilds with loyalty, it’s going to make people re-think about “rage” quitting, and most of all it’s going to encourage people to help the guild…and then gain benefits for the guild. I think it is a wonderful idea, and I cannot wait to see it implemented. In case you couldn’t tell, I am really quite excited about this new development! I will give some more in depth thoughts on what I think the pros and cons of this are going to be, and how it’s going to effect guilds when I have a few more minutes to put my thoughts down.
This is also the panel that discussed the new “Mastery” effects, which I’m not quite sure how I feel about that yet. It also discusses the Path of the Titans, which I think sounds pretty darn cool. I like the lore that they are going to implement in this, and how you will use “Archeology” to uncover your paths. If they do it right, it’s going to be a lot of fun, I think.
I did play the Cataclysm demo that they had available today. I opted to play as a goblin (sorry Kae!) and see their neat stuff, while Brade opted to play as the worgen. The starting area was akin to most starting areas, and was lovely and colorful (think STV). Some of the quests were like all areas (collect 10 boxes, kill 8 beasts), but some of them were innovative and fun. My favorite was one where I was give a chain and told to be a weedwhacker and whack 100 plants. I really enjoyed whirling through the jungle
All in all, I felt that this years Blizzcon was a lot more fun than last years. I really enjoyed getting to hang out with some of my guildmates again, and just the entire atmosphere of the convention. I definitely had a lot of fun!
Talk to everyone when I get back!
