Know Any New Bloggers? I Want To Know About Them!   6 comments

When I first started blogging, I remember getting a note from Bellweather telling me that she’d like to introduce me to the blogosphere via The Twisted Nether’s Welcome Wagon, and asked me if I’d be interested in being featured. Now, I had no idea what the Twisted Nether was, but I knew what a Welcome Wagon was – and I was flattered that my little blog was chosen to be welcomed into the blogosphere by another blogger. (In case you are wondering The Welcome Wagon is a spotlight post done over at the Twisted Nether site that highlights an up and coming blogger – tells you a little about them, about their blog, etc).

Well, time passes as it’s prone to do, and with the passage of time change inevitably happens. Since the time Bell took an interest in me, she has stopped playing WoW and retired her blog. As a result of that the Twisted Nether Welcome Wagon also disappeared into, well, the nether I suppose!

Remembering how amazing it felt to have someone take an interest in my new blog, from time to time I did “community spotlight” posts that featured newer blogs here on my blog – as I know other bloggers have also done from time to time as well. But somehow it’s not quite the same. As a brand new blogger there is nothing more empowering, or builds more confidence, than having someone take an interest in your blog and what you have to say.

So, when Fimlys was looking for people who might want to do some articles for the Twisted Nether, I queried into if anyone had picked up Bell’s reigns on the Welcome Wagon. And much to my surprise, nobody had. Naturally, having been so positively influenced by this project, I offered to continue the column for the Twisted Nether.

And this is where all of you come in! I’ve been digging around for some new bloggers to spotlight for the Welcome Wagon to get it rolling (har) again, but let’s be honest here…I am only one person and there are so many new and fantastic blogs out there that I simply can’t hope to catch them all! So, if you come across a new blog that you think would be a perfect candidate for an introduction via the Welcome Wagon, please let me know by sending an email to fallingleaves51@gmail.com.

I think Fimlys is going to run them on Tuesdays (not 100% sure) – to give everyone something to do while passing the maintenance hours away. So keep an eye out for them – and support those who are just starting to emerge into the blogsphere! And remember, as you peruse through new blogs, there is nothing more encouraging for a new member of the community than receiving comments. In fact, I still remember who gave me my first comment (/wave Keeva) and how excited I was to see that little “1” next to my post!

  1. This sounds a fantastic idea, Beru! 🙂

I ran a similar thing back on TanknTree, original intent was weekly but I found that to be a little too often. Ended up being once a month with the occasional ‘special’. xD

I’d basically troll through the blog azeroth ‘introductions’ area, and look for a blog that had at least 3 posts up to a decent degree of quality, was pretty fun and rewarding, so I really hope you enjoy it as well!

  3. I’m glad to see that you’re taking up the reins, Beru. Not only am I looking forwarding to expanding my feed count with some up-and-coming bloggers (would it be selfish to hope for some Resto Shaman ones?), but I can think of no one more suited than someone who was so supportive during my own humble beginnings. ^_^

  4. That’s a great idea! I look forward to seeing this. I know it’s not always easy to find new bloggers either, so it’s a great way to introduce them to the community.

  5. Yay! I’m glad this is getting it’s own spotlight instead of being sandwiched into the big ol’ TNB update for the week 🙂
