Good Things Come To Those Who Wait   23 comments

Or so I’m told, anyhow. Perhaps I tell myself that just to keep me sane. I mean, I have been digging for the crawling claw for quite some time. I had started to believe that it just did not exist, and it was some cruel joke that WoW Devs were playing with me. Let’s face it, I have enough tiny mosaics to cover an entire pyramid. I have enough emerald eyed cats to put Earnest Hemingway to shame. I have enough scimitars to arm an entire army. So there I was on my 238th Tol’vir solve today. Not expecting anything special, perhaps a map, maybe sand castle, and there it was!

I may, or may not, have screamed as if I’d just found Ed McMahon at my front door advising me that I’d just won the publisher’s clearinghouse sweepstakes. It may, or may not, have cause Brade to say “could we stop screaming now” (hey! it’s not my fault he’s a downer!). But there is was. All mine, with only 150 fragments. Unfortunately I had errands to run before the raid, and I went into the raid a mere 19 fragments short of my prize. But don’t worry – I was right back digging in the dirt the second we finished (and the elation when my 150th fragment hit my bags was almost enough to make me forget the pain of our ~30% spine wipe).

And just in case you didn’t already know, the claw is a fun interactive pet as well! Check it out!

Needless to say, I will be taking a break from playing in the dirt for awhile. I wish I could say “forever”, but the truth of the matter is that I will likely torture myself a little more to finish out the achievements in the category. :)

  1. Eeee, congrats! :D I hope to get my hands on this…err, hand…someday myself, when I once again have enough time dig in the dirt. Until then I shall relish in the fact that there are indeed a few rare lucky souls such as yourself that have confirmed that it does indeed exist. I’m so very excited for you!!

  2. Congrats!

  3. “screamed as if I’d just found Ed McMahon at my front door.”

I laughed at this. A lot more than I should have. :)

    Congratulations!

    • You know, Cyn, I wondered a little bit if I might be dating myself and people would be left scratching their heads going “who the fuck is Ed McMahon!” :) I’m very glad that you not only knew who he was, but found humor in it as well! Thanks :)

  4. Congratulations!! I recall from previous posts that it was a long time coming ;-)

  5. Grats, I picked up mine while farming for tyrants doll on an alt many months ago. 380nelf solves and no doll :/ by the time I picked this up, it was boe and could not be sent to my main.

Hoping MoP comes good on making your pet collection account wide.

  6. When I saw your first screenshot I screamed a little myself! Grats :D

  7. Grats!!!! OMG I love that thing, I wish I could force myself to do more arch :)

    • Thanks!

As for “forcing” youself to do more. Honestly, I think you are probably a happier, more fullfilled player because you don’t force yourself to partake in completely miserable tasks! I’ve told Brade several times that I think some of my discontent with WoW right now can be partially attributed to spending so much time partaking in an utterly joyless task.

  8. Congratulations!

I may have to force myself into digging stuff up again but the sheer amount of scandalous nightgowns I get keeps putting me off.

    • Hey now! I’ve already trademarked “Azshara’s Secret” so don’t be encroaching on my nightgown business! ;)

There really is so much missed potential with this profession, it’s a shame that it turned out to be something so terribly mind numbing in the end.

      And, thanks!

  9. That is awesome! It looks like I’ll be sharing your pain as I attempt to get it now with my Druid! Congratz!

  10. Ohh grats! Tolvir artifacts seem the worst to find. I grinded the Doll when Cata first came out, and that was less annoying than doing Tolvir seems to be now, but maybe I was more tolerant of having to dig up pointless fossils back then.

    • I did the doll straight away and had in in our first week of raiding. I think the biggest problem with Tol’vir digs is that you have to go through all of the fossil and NE digs to get there. It got a little better once they added more digsites – but there was nothing more discouraging than having my digs show me full NE sites when I’d completed all of the NE artifacts in the first month of the game.

  11. Really happy for you, Beru. I sure do know how work hard for that one!

    Much love,

    Rholm

  12. On how you work hard*
