Now if only they’d let us add BattleTag/RealID friends through their website (especially considering you can’t do it through WoW yet). I don’t currently have any BattleTag friends, so I’m not entirely sure how that piece of the system works and/or looks.

I have to agree with RealID vs Battletags. I was always hesitant about giving out my email to people I hardly knew. In fact, the first person I added as a RealID player was someone I had known years ago through WoW and reconnected with through a common server. Since then, others like new recruits into the Guild, for example, have offered me theirs which I didn’t really want to add as I didn’t know them that well yet. Or what happens when you get a request and you don’t like the person? I don’t necessarily want to know what that person said to another RealID user every time I log in and there’s definitely the “me” time that I love but other times it does get lonely. I took everyone off my RealID list a few months ago for personal reasons but after my recent hack I was so overwhelmed by the amount of caring people out there that I’m just thinking about adding a few names to my friends list again.

However, I do agree that Battletags are a lot more easier for me to digest than RealID and more likely to use from now on.

I give this post two thumbs up simply for the fact that you used the word bifurcation. ;D
I agree that I think the Battle Tag is a great system that will expand people’s social circles further than most were comfortable with using Real ID.
