I may try one more time to see if I can get back into it – but I may shelve it if I find I’m more frustrated than anything else!

You do bring up a good point. I just can’t decide if I get more enjoyment from “beating” a game, or from the journey on the way!

I have had so much trouble finishing games over the last few years. Skyward Sword and the two Batman games are the only three I can think of that I’ve managed to actually finish in the last three or four years.

Sometimes I’ll force myself past a hump if I can identify the issue, and I think there is more fun past whatever is draining my fun. I have wrist issues too, so in the case of mario brothers I’d just call it quits.

I’m a journey person though, so I get my joys along the way. Being finished isn’t important to me really. Some people need to complete everything, or to reach the “finish line” to be happy. The real question is which are you?

For me its over when I no longer enjoy it. Life (and leisure time!) is too short to force myself to play games I’m not having fun with.

I think I agree with Brade — when the fun’s over, so is the game. When things begin to feel like chores, it’s time for me to move on. I may revisit it (hello, Sims 3), but the magic will be lost for me. That’s kinda sad, isn’t it?

Pokemon (whichever was the latest to come out) — I can’t be arsed to level my pokemons anymore. Because I’m stuck in a town I can’t even figure out how to get to the gym to beat the gym leader to move on…

Dragon Age 2 and Diablo 3 — gathering dust on my dock. >.> I finally caught up to my old saved game file in DA2, so maybe I will be more interested in finishing that game now. Maybe. With Pandaria about to come out, all other games will (or already have?) fall by the wayside.
