And So We Saved Azeroth…   8 comments

Well, at least for now!

Yes, The Lich King is now dead. Kinda. Well, you know what I mean!

I was very excited, and relieved, by our success with this encounter. After a 1% wipe last Sunday, we had come in Monday and fumbled, not netting the kill we all expected. Tensions were high as we went into the fight on Thursday night, only to find that it had been changed. Recognizing everyone’s frustration, including mine, we called the raid early to wait and see if the change was intended. (It was).

Four pulls. That’s all it took last night for us to finish it out. It was the culmination of a lot of hard work by a lot of people. It was a lot of poorly placed defiles. It was people getting dropped over the edge. It was a lot of /head-desk. But when all was said and done, it was also a lot of fun, and tonight everyone will get a well earned night off before we start hard modes on Wednesday.

Regardless of what happens from here, we done good this expansion.

Other Monday Musings

On Druid Leveling

My little druid hit level 32 this weekend. 8 levels from dual spec and a faster mount! It’s probably been 4 years since I’ve done any alliance questing, and the change of pace in the questing is enjoyable. Right now I am in Southshore. I suppose that when I finish there I will head to either Dustwallow Marsh or STV. If I remember correctly there is a nice alliance questing hub in Dustwallow. I’ve also been taking a lot of screenshots. Anytime I pass by something that catches my eye, or seems pretty, I stop for a few minutes and enjoy it. I guess I kinda view it as one last Hurrah before the world changes, and it’s not as if I’m in any sort of rush.

As for my SAN dilemma, I actively tried to be more part of the conversations this weekend while I was over there. It was somewhat a successful endeavor, however I still missed my guild quite a bit…but Brade played a fair bit this weekend, so I felt attached by proxy I suppose. I’m still a bit torn because I’m really enjoying seeing all of the alliance quests again after so many years, but I miss my people! Not the horde, but my guild. However, for now, I will remain the little NE that I am. The fact that I am out of the Gnomeregon range and into the Scarlet Monastery range (which is one of my favorite zones!) in the LFD tool helps immensely as well!

On Movies

I have recently watched a few of the Oscar Nominated Films, The Hurt Locker and Precious being two of them.

I thought that Precious was a phenomenal, but highly emotional film. I actually thought it was more Oscar worthy than The Hurt Locker. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good movie, but be warned that you will probably want a box of tissue next to you as you start the film. It’s emotionally charged, and not an easy watch. But so, so good.

On Books

I’m still completely addicted to these JD Robb books! Almost finished with book 5, and I can’t wait for more. It’s almost like they are crack! I just eat them up, om nom nom. Luckily for me there are like….30 more!

On Blizzcon

We’re going again. Assuming we snag tickets, that is! I’ve already booked our room at the Hilton and put in my time off request in at the office. I tried for adding a few days for Disney…but Brade said he’s still Disney’d out. Boo.

On WoW in General

I can feel the expansion starting to close. It’s not just on the other side of the door yet, but it’s not far off either. It’s everywhere in the community, from the general forums to the blogosphere. There’s probably a good 6 months left of this expansion (my bet is that we will see the expansion hit after Blizzcon), but things are starting to quiet down. There is just less to talk about. Everything now is “old news”.

I am keeping myself revitalized (see what I did there!) with exploring Azeroth one final time before the expansion hits. I’m going slowly and enjoying the things around me. There is no rush. I am just strolling through the garden, and appreciating the scenery. I find it peaceful and a strangely fulfilling use of my time.

Sure, we are still raiding. There are still things to do, but there is definitely a spell that is starting to coat everything. People who are normally online all the time are taking the opportunity to enjoy things outside of Azeroth in this lull, the quiet before the storm. And you know what, it’s OK.

How about you all? Have any Monday Musings? Anything you have done, seen or read lately worth sharing? How you are filling your time in this lull? What are your guesses on Cataclysm’s release?

  1. Woot! Grats Beru!

Jess and I are totally considering Blizzcon again… though we got pwned with ticket situation last year so who knows if we could even get tickets this year…. We’ll see.

  2. Congratulations 🙂 How did you deal with the insta-spawns of the spirits on 25-man? Multiple tanks?

I still wish there was a way to include both horde and alliance in one guild-chat. It may become easier with the planned friend chat interface… that same feeling of loneliness for my friends is why I haven’t played my feral night elf (the one who is 80) in several months.

    • Lots of misdirects…and prayer! 🙂

In all honesty though we changed up our positioning some, and adjusted how our tanks picked up the adds.

I do wish there was a way to chatter with my guild while on another faction. I am enjoying the alliance questing hubs, but missing some of my favorite people! At the moment I’m cheating by trying to keep tabs while Brade plays 🙂

  3. Congrats!

  4. Grats!
We’ve had the LK down on 10-man for a while, but 25-man, can’t seem to get the execution done…. ;(

It does seem to be ‘winding down’ for LK, but we’ll still have a couple of smaller raid encounters to accomplish – keeping us busy until November when we get to start all over!

I, too, am leveling a baby alt – a hunter – and enjoying smelling the roses. 😉
