Beru’s Power Aura Settings (with Exports!)   2 comments

Please note that this post has been updated for Cataclysm. You can find my new auras here. I’ve added several new auras, as well as updated all of my old ones! I would recommend disregarding this post and referring to the Cataclysm update. ~Beru

I’ve received a few requests for me to post my Power Aura settings, so even though they are almost embarassingly basic, I thought that I’d go ahead and share them.

Before we get into the pictures and exports, I want to comment on my style. When I was learning Power Auras, the person that helped me learn the mod had told me that he tends to use icon settings so that he remembers what each setting is for, indicating that when he just used auras and squiggles and what not, he tended to forget what each “aura” indicated.  As I went on my Powa journey, I found that this was true for me as well, so all of my settings will mirror icons.

Now, there is no “right” way to do this, so if you prefer “auras” and that works better for you, you should set those up!  Everyone will find that something works different for them, and should experiment until they find something they feel comfortable with.  For those that are interested in seeing how other druids utilize Power Auras, you can find some alternative settings from Jaslya, Keeva, Kae and Angelya.

And now…here are my exports:

Low Mana – This will activate when I hit 60% mana to remind me to innervate. It fades away after a few seconds, but will return each time I hit 60% mana.

Innervate – I like to innervate at 60% mana, and then when it comes back up, or as needed after that.  I often found that I would miss my innervate coming back up, so that is why this is very large and obnoxious, so that I wouldn’t miss it.  It only stays up for a few seconds, but it’s highly effective.  It also plays a cookie monster sound to let me know innervate is ready!

WG/Swiftmend/Nature’s Swiftness – I include these three together because they are all lined up, just to the right of my cast bar, and right below grid.  Somewhere my eyes are always focused.  These will show when these abilities are available for use, while the spell is on cooldown, they will not show.

Encounter Specific Exports – I actually only use two encounter specific settings, perferring to track most things in Grid.  However, when we were learning All You Can Eat, and then subsequently Hard Mode Sindragosa I found that there were a few key things that I was having trouble tracking due to so many things occuring in the encounter.  Thus, I borrowed two settings to help me track Unchained magic/backlash and Mystic Buffet.(Keeva created the Unchained magic settings, and Lash did those for Mystic Buffet.)

Unchained Magic/Backlash – This will not only warn you when you have Unchained Magic, but it will tell you how long you have left on the debuff, as well as let you know how many stacks of Backlash you have and the time before they explode.  This actually needs to be set up as two different Powa settings.  Both exports are listed below, with the first being the Unchained Magic Warning and the second being Backlash stacks.

Mystic Buffet – One of the most important things that you can do while learning All You Can Eat is to know how many stacks of Mystic Buffet you have, and how long before they drop.  However, this also carries over very well when you start learning HM Sindragosa as well.  I was originally tracking this in grid, but with everything going on, I’d find that I needed something better to monitor myself.  So while I continued to track the raid’s stacks in grid, I set this one up for myself.  This setting will give you a BIG heads up that you have mystic buffet stacks, tell you how many stacks you have and let you know how long before they fall off.

Moonkin Settings – When I started my DPS project with Beru, I made a few very basic moonkin settings to help me remember when certain key abilities were ready to use.  I use these in addition with Quartz Procs, which monitors my Eclipse procs and DoTs.

Eclipse – One of my biggest problems with DPS is that I generally lead raids and DPS isn’t something that I’m as used to as healing, and requires a lot of my attention.  I found that I often would miss eclipse changes while trying to lead, so I made it impossible for me to miss 🙂  This setting will adjust the icon based on which eclipse has proc’d.
